About me

I grew up on a farm, and was meant to be a farmer. However, just one day at agricultural college told me I didn't want to be.

Many friends at the time were heading to art college, which of course sounded much more fun. But I was always supposed to be a farmer, my time at school hadn’t led me in a remotely artistic direction. Luckily, the ignorant youth in me wasn't going to let that stop me.

But what to study? It quickly dawned that photography could be the answer. The problem was I didn't have a camera, but my Dad did. Besides being a farmer he was a very keen amateur photographer. He had cameras, lenses, lights and even a darkroom.
In what felt like no time, I had a portfolio of work and interviews loomed at various art colleges to study an OND in Photography. That was exciting!
Fortunately, as it turned out I was quite good at it - I did have some creative bones after all.

Growing up on a farm taught me from an early age to become a problem solver, a fixer of things, and to deal with weather and get on with it - all skills relevant to life as a commercial photographer.
For over 20 years I have been shooting professionally for advertising, design and publishing clients. My work has a dynamic, engaging vibrancy and a high level of technical skill in lighting and camera craft.

I shoot both still and moving imagery for clients large and small. I have my own fully equipped studio and as well as me, my team consists of a full-time production assistant, photography assistant and retoucher. Expertise

I am well versed in a wide range of camera formats, both still and video and am equally at home working alone or as a part of a large team.

When it comes to lighting I don't think there is a type of artificial lighting I haven't used or for that matter any weather conditions I haven't shot in.

I take great satisfaction in consistently bringing jobs in on time, within budget and with as little drama as possible.

Location

My studio, once a cowshed, is on the south coast of England,  just outside of Lewes. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by the gorgeous Sussex landscape and be within easy reach of London and the southeast.
